#TOURDEEUROPECC – MAY
The time has come to go to the Italy with @sanda.reads, @ela.talks.books and my #tourdeeuropecc challenge. Well, to be precise: Italy, Malta, San Marino and Vatican City.
There are so many books set there that it is really hard to make choices, but we somehow managed to make a list of our reading recommendations for you. Well, @ela.talks.books did most of the work, cause, after all, Italy is her specialty.
If you’re thinking of joining our reading challenge, these are the books we can recommend with confidence:
• Invisible Cities – Italo Calvino
• Ocean Sea – Alessandro Baricco
• A Farewell to Arms – Ernest Hemingway
• Anywhere But Home – Daniel Speck
• Il treno dei bambini (The Children’s Train)
• The Neapolitan tetralogy – Elena Ferrante
• If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler – Italo Calvino
And what do I plan reading for Italy? I started with the first of Elena Ferrante’s books – My Brilliant Friend, and I hope I will have the time to read From Scratch by Tembi Locke (non fiction) or something light like Karen Swans The Rome Affair.
I have visited Italy numerous times and I always enjoy spending time there. I love the people, the architecture, the food…. And I honestlly hope I will be able to visit it again soon. We actually have an Italy coastal road trip planned with the kiddos, not sure if that is a great or a crazy plan. But as you know, all the best ideas are always a bit of a risk, right? 😂
Do you have a fav book or a tv adaptation set in Italy that you loved? For me it is Eat, Pray, Love and Under The Tuscan Sun. Love those movies (and books) so much!
